MySQL is certainly one of the most used relational database management systems. Being Open Source has benefited from many, and it today represents a widely used web application database, especially because it is integrated into the LAMP software stack.

This software may create databases, structures and work with data records or back-up data based on command-line tools or front-ends.

Features include cross-platform compatibility, the usual triggers and cursors, SSL and Unicode support, and plenty of others specific to such a tool. Recent developments have led to the creation of advanced application plug-ins, such as Excel and Visual Studio integration, the Workbench for visual designs and data modeling, ODBC, and .NET Connector.
